Helping with persistent pain, tension and recovery through acupuncture and podiatry-informed care.
Hi, I’m Miranda Harrington, a HCPC-registered podiatrist based in Headingley. I qualified with a BSc in Podiatry from the University of Huddersfield in 2014 and have over ten years’ experience working in both the NHS and private practice. I’m also a member of the Royal College of Podiatry and have additional training in medical acupuncture. I am registered with the Breeze Academy and am committed to working safely, ethically, and within my scope of practice.
I decided to start practising independently to offer a more flexible and patient-centred approach, particularly when it comes to orthotic treatment.
In some clinical settings, custom orthotics aren’t available, while in others they may be offered as the default option. From a patient’s perspective, this can be frustrating. If insoles don’t work or fit properly, you’re often left starting the process again elsewhere.
My work focuses on straightforward biomechanical foot problems, such as heel pain. Many people try off-the-shelf insoles that don’t quite fit, while fully bespoke orthotics can be expensive. It’s common for patients to tell me they’ve accumulated several pairs over the years that they no longer use.
As part of my assessment, I always consider whether a well-fitted off-the-shelf insole is appropriate. In many cases, these can be an effective and more cost-conscious option when properly selected and adjusted. Where needed, I can also prescribe custom orthotics tailored to your individual foot structure and symptoms.
Rather than relying on foam box impressions, which simply capture the foot as it is, I carry out a full clinical assessment and take off-weightbearing casts. This allows me to position the foot in a more optimal alignment, supporting more comfortable and efficient movement.
My aim is simply to recommend the most appropriate option for you, whether that’s advice, simple insoles, or a custom device.
Alongside podiatry, I also offer medical acupuncture to support pain management and recovery. Acupuncture works by influencing the nervous system, helping the body move out of a stressed, reactive state and into a more relaxed, restorative one. In a musculoskeletal context, this can help reduce pain, ease muscle tension, and make it easier to engage in rehabilitation.
I integrate both Western medical acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine approaches in my practice. I am registered with the Breeze Academy and have undertaken training in Five Element acupuncture with the Yellow Path Training School and continue to develop my skills through further study. I am currently working towards a lic.ac qualification at the London College of Acupuncture and Natural Medicine, training in a range of approaches including classical acupuncture, Master Tung’s techniques, nutrition, and Daoist practices. My studies also include practitioner development through Qi Gong, meditation, and supervised clinical practice, supporting a well-rounded and thoughtful approach to patient care. In addition to this, I practice martial arts including Tai Chi and Kung Fu, which support my understanding of movement, balance, and internal awareness in my work with patients.
Acupuncture isn’t only for when something has gone wrong. Many people choose treatment to support general wellbeing, improve sleep, or manage stress alongside physical symptoms.
I see patients from Headingley, Leeds, Horsforth, Kirkstall, Meanwood, and surrounding areas.
My clinic is based at the Leeds Complementary Therapy Centre on Otley Road.
